Year 9 English
Year 9
- This is our foundation GCSE year.
- This is when we begin to divide the subject into English language and literature, to reflect the GCSE syllabi.
- Students are exposed to a range of fiction and non-fiction literature from a wide range of time periods, cultures and authors.
- We start to teach to the exam and assess students using GCSE style assessments e.g.: GCSE exam papers.
- We also introduce some of the literature texts early, so your child is confident when they study them at school.
- Students study a range of literature texts to prepare them for the demands of the GCSE course e.g.: Shakespeare, 19th century literature, unseen poetry and modern texts.
