About

English Teacher

Here at English Teacher, we truly believe in our mantra: “English is a subject for life and not just for school”. We believe that when your child studies English, the skills they gain stay with them far beyond their classroom years. We therefore believe in these 4 key areas as our ethos:

1. Educational Success

Exams matter and so do results. We understand this and strive to convey the importance of this to your child. Once your child achieves success at 11+, GCSE or A-level, these grades stay with them for life, and open doors to new beginnings. We help your child thrive and exceed their own potential.

2. Effective Communication:

Language is a powerful tool, and to use it well, there is an art to it. We want your child to be able to communicate effectively in their spoken, or written English- this is a key skill which we teach and will stay with your child for life: in university, in the world of work, and beyond. We teach the art of effective communication and give your child the skills, tools, knowledge, and confidence to convey their ideas with clarity, precision and intelligence.

3. Lifelong Readers:

We want to nurture a spirit of reading within your child, and a genuine love of books and literature; we want them to be lifelong readers, and learners, and pick up books and acquaint themselves with reading, years beyond their time at school. Whether it be reading on a beach break holiday in their 20s, or in a coffee shop on a rainy day in their 40s, we want books to be your child’s lifelong companions. At this stage we will guide, nourish and nurture your child’s reading journey and interests, in hope that the seeds we plant now mean your child will flourish into an independent adult reader, who has a positive relationship with literature, chooses to pick up books, and appreciates reading.

4. Emotionally Literacy

Emotional literacy refers to the concept of having self-awareness and recognition of your own feelings, and empathy and sensitivity towards other people’s feelings. This is developed in English through the literature we study. Your child will learn about stories from a wider range of time periods and cultures, this will enable them to empathise with different perspectives, and in doing so gain a more empathetic lens to view the world and those around us.

Our teachers

Not only are our teachers qualified, they possess a unique set of skills and qualities which will inspire and guide your children through their learning journeys. Many of our teachers currently work in schools across the UK; examine at GCSE or A-level and have the depth of knowledge and experience required to teach towards success. Their own command of English serves as a model your child will want to emulate.

Our teachers are passionate, enthusiastic, patient, inspirational and empathetic.
